Horizontal Boring and Milling Machines
Horizontal boring and milling machines or horizontal milling and boring machine's main structure is installed on the floor horizontally. The horizontal work spindle is parallel to the floor as well. It usually integrates the process of boring, milling and tapping into one machine.
Modern horizontal boring and milling machines have six axes of X, Y, Z, W, V and B. W axis is the main spindle which is parallel to the floor and work table. X axis travels horizontally. Y axis travels vertically. Z axis is perpendicular to X and Y axis, and W axis travels along the axial direction of Z axis. V axis travels across main spindle W axis. B axis rotates around Y axis.
Horizontal boring and milling machines are usually used for large components with complex shapes. Heavy duty cutting, rough and finish combination, multiple face machining, high precision and speed are the typical requirements.
